Admission Requirements

The minimum National Senior Certificate (NSC) requirements of 2005 for entry into a diploma programme must be met. The following table(s) should be utilised by a prospective applicant to rate their Senior Certificate (SC), National Certificate (HG, SG and LG) and National Certificate (Vocational) NCV results and check whether they qualify or not before proceeding with the application and payment of fees.

Admission Criteria & Requirements

The minimum National Senior Certificate (NSC) requirements of 2005 for entry into a diploma programme must be met. Medium of instruction is English.

NSC Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 50% in English.
  • Level 3 (40 – 49%) in two recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.
  • Level 4 (50 – 59%) in two other NSC 20-credit subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
  • Minimum APS Total: 22 points calculated from the 6 passed subjects.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with an Agricultural and Natural Sciences background.

NC(V) Level 4 Entry Route

  • National Certificate (Vocational) NQF Level 4 in any agriculture-relevant certificate issued by Umalusi.
  • Fundamental Subjects: Rating of 3 (Competent, 50–69%) in 3 fundamental subjects, including English.
  • Vocational Subjects: Upper range rating of 3 (Competent, 60–69%) or higher in each of the 3 vocational subjects.

Excluded NSC Subjects

The following NSC subjects will not be considered for score calculations:

  • History
  • Religion Studies
  • Culture and Arts subjects
  • Engineering, Graphics and Design (EGD)
  • Languages other than English

Please Note: Fees are subject to change annually as determined by Treasury tariffs according to the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Application & Registration

A non-refundable application fee of R 500.00 is payable on or before submitting the form. The registration fee of R 4 649.00 is payable on the day of registration.

Glen Student Trust Fund (GSTF)

In addition to tuition, all students must pay the annual R 3 000.00 GSTF levy covering practical farm training, tools, and extramural/curricular activities.

Boarding & Meals

Hostel accommodation is R 17 272.00/year (R 8 636.00/semester) and full meal plans are R 12 804.00/year (R 6 402.00/semester).
