Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about admissions, fees, hostel accommodation, and student life.

When do applications open?

We will give feedback on applications in late November for when applications will be open.

How many points do I need to qualify for acceptance and what high school subjects are required?

The College requires a total rating of 22 points (M-score) from the 6 passed subjects. Furthermore, the College requires a minimum of 50% in the language of teaching and learning (English), an achievement rating of level 3 (40–49%) in two recognized NSC 20 credit subjects and an achievement rating of level 4 (50–59%) in two other NSC 20 credit subjects (which excludes Life Orientation).

How much is the registration fee and can one pay the balance in instalments?

The registration fee which includes the Glen Student Trust Fund (GSTF) is stipulated clearly in the application form and must be paid after receiving an acceptance letter and before coming to the College for registration. The balance of the annual fees can be settled monthly/quarterly.

Is there a bursary scheme in the college, if so who qualifies?

The College itself does not have a bursary scheme but there are bursaries available such as the one from the National Skills Fund (NSF) that is administered through the National Department of Agriculture for qualifying students. However, students must first register before being eligible to apply for the NSF bursary. There is also an Agriseta bursary that is available to students after being a registered student.

Hostel info?

There is limited space available in the hostel. Eligible students will be selected based on the criteria. Students who are admitted for the program, but don't have hostel accommodation will have to find alternative accommodation.

Is there transport available to go to town to attend to urgent needs and errands?

The College makes available a student bus to transport students to do their monthly groceries. Standard Operating Procedures are in place to attend to medical emergencies. All other transport needs are at own cost and time.

Are there extra-mural activities that students participate in?

The College has recreational activities such as Choral Music, Netball, Soccer, Rugby and other peripheral sporting codes like tennis, chess etc. The College has in-door and outdoor gym facilities.

If accepted when must one come to the college for registration, induction and commencement of classes?

An acceptance letter from the College will stipulate clearly the date of arrival for new students and what they need to bring with e.g. bedding, linen etc.
